Hello there,
Just thought I would finally get around to emailing you and telling you how proud of my puppy I am!
She is just what I was looking for in a dog for training for being my "hearing/signal dog".I havent been teaching
her alot of the stuff she will be learning to do that, as I am giving her time to be a puppy first, but I have been
teaching her to wake me up when the alarm goes off. This did not take her long to learn however, she has been
getting lazy the last couple of weeks with this duty and waiting til David tells her to get me up.
But I have also taught her to shake hands, wave goodbye, and the first thing she learned upon getting here, was
"WIPE YOUR FEET"!! It was so rainy and muddy when I first got her and her being a house dog I needed her
to wait at the door to get her feet wiped off, and this she does. Its really neat. She is so smart, and she also has
learned to speak to get out. That is so much better than jumping on the door, seeing as how the door is glass and
with her increasing size I was afraid she would break it someday. And, it only took 2 days to housebreak her.
She got her service dog vest in the mail last week so now I can legally take her out into public places for training, but
will wait a few months before I take her out too much.
Oh yeah, she LOVES to play fetch and the chase game, she will grab up a toy and start running and we chase her all
over the house or round and round the couch. Her favorite game, besides terrorizing our little house dashunds.
I had been worried how our "bonding" would go, beings I got her so late, but she is very very loyal to me. She knows
she is "my" dog. And when I take her with me to sign language classes with me, she lays under the table at my feet the
whole 2 hours pretty much, no one would even know she was there sometimes. I missed a class one week and the next
day I saw some other people from that class, they all said, "where were you? We missed Jewel.". well that made me
feel good. They didnt miss ME, just the dog...........:)
Well here is a photo, and I will be in contact with you at some point, I might want a male dog at another time, (not for breeding,
but for an outside watchdog, my 14 year old watchdog had to be put down a few weeks ago), and in a couple of years I will
be looking to have Jewel bred for puppies.
Thanks!!
